Banham, Cynthia (jurist)

Cynthia has just completed a Post-doctoral Fellowship in the Centre for International Governance and Justice (CIGJ, The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia); Her PhD was titled ‘The Responses of Liberal Democracies to the Torture of Citizens: A Comparative Study’; Her current research deals with alternative sites for accountability for international human rights breaches, where states refuse to engage in official accountability; She is a lawyer and a former journalist, and was the foreign affairs and defence correspondent for The Sydney Morning Herald.
