One of a group of 14 Balinese painters and draftsmen, commissioned by H.N. van der Tuuk (1824-1894) to make illustrations for his *Kawi-Balineesch-Nederlandsch woordenboek*. However, in the end the book was published after Van der Tuuk’s death by J. Brandes and D.A. Rinkes (Batavia 1897-1912) without plates, despite numerous references to plates in the text.
