Info van Jan Noorlandt januari 2016: S. H. Foulkes (/fʊks/; 3 September 1898 – 8 July 1976), was a German-British psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. He developed a group theory for small groups alternate to the Wilfred Bion's ones which is the foundation of the Foulkesian group psychotherapy movement. He was the founder of group analysis, a specific form of group therapy, the Group Analytic Society, and the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA), London. Foulkes was born as Siegmund Heinrich Fuchs (German: [fʊks]) in Karlsruhe, Germany. In 1933, he emigrated to England. In 1938, he was granted British citizenship and changed his name to S. H. Foulkes. For friends and family he had the nickname Michael.[1] He died during a seminar in 1976.
